Article Processing Charges (APC)
Social Science Chronicle is an open access journal. Hence, no reader will have to buy subscription or pay any fees to access articles published in the journal.
However, for covering the costs incurred in publication process (which includes setup and maintenance of publication infrastructure, routine operations of journal, processing of manuscripts, peer review administration and management, professional production of articles, dissemination of published papers, archiving, payment to employed staffs involved in editing, type-setting, proof-reading etc.), the journal relies on Article Processing Charges (APC).
APC is solicited only when a manuscript is finally accepted for publication after completion of peer-review and moderation processes. There are no charges for submission of manuscript, rejected articles, and any surcharges based on the length of an article, figures or supplementary data.
Article Processing Charges : USD 1000 per manuscript from 01 April 2025, shall be applicable.
Who will make the payment of APC?
The corresponding author will be required to make the remittance.

When to pay APC?
Upon editorial acceptance of manuscript, the corresponding author will be notified for completion of payment within 07 days, failing which the journal will not be in a position to publish the manuscript.

How to pay APC?
Remittance shall be processed in online mode via secure payment gateway, the details of which will be communicated when the manuscript is accepted for publication.
Corresponding author of every manuscript shall receive payment invoice / receipt, once remittance is settled.

Is there any APC waiver?
The journal considers individual waiver request on case-to-case basis.
Usually, if the first author or the institution of the first author – is based in a country which is classified by the World Bank as a low-income nation, a 25% waiver in APC is provided. Decision on the waiver is normally made within a week. It is advised to request for this waiver during the submission process. Requests initiated during review process or after acceptance will not be considered.

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, The Gambia, Togo, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

APC Refund Policy
The managing editor of Social Science Chronicle (SSC) shall refund the article processing charges, if there is an error at the journal’s end resulting in failure to publish the article.
APC will not be refunded when articles are retracted as a result of author’s error or misconduct.
